THE LITTLE BOARD

The Little Board

Our most recent creation, this little board went around with me most of 2015.  I needed something a little more convenient this year, and this board did the trick.  I’ll detail out the list of pedals on the board below.

Pedal order chain goes : IN junction box – Compression – EM Drive – Scarlett Love Overdrive – JHS Prestige – Tap A Whirl – Nano Pog – Junction box mono out/stereo return (bypassed when nothing plugged in) – Strymon Timeline – Neunaber Stereo Wet – Junction box stereo out.

The Junction Box (upper right)

This is the mono in/stereo out of the board, as well as a mono send (routed just after the pog) and stereo return (routed back into the Timeline) to make a place for stereo effects to be plugged in if ever I wanted to.

Walrus Audio Deep Six Compressor

This is my favorite compression pedal I’ve used. It sounds great, and its controls are easy to use and very effective.  This pedal helps give me extra sustain, fattens up my tone, and smooths everything out.  Check it out.

EM Drive

Emerson Custom has drive pedals dialed in.  This simple two knob guy was great for this board.  Its a turn up and go pedal.  No tweaking.  Just trust it.  It has the tone i want for rhythm and warmth every time.

EM Drive

Scarlett Love Overdrive

The Nigel Hendroff signature overdrive pedal.  Of course it sounds amazing.  I like to describe it as a dark and rich overdrive.  You don’t have to work to get a nice smooth top end and natural sounding gain with this pedal.

JHS Prestige

Due to wanting to keep the board compact, I opted out of having a third stage drive and instead went for a compact boost.  The Prestige is a great boost.  It doesnt add a lot of gain, but simply justs boosts me to where i want to be in the mix, in the moment.  This pedal has been a handy little tool.

Cusack Tap-a-Whirl

This is my tremolo pedal.  Hand made, analog, and great tone.  It has lots of different tremolo settings and a tap tempo, which makes it convenient for live playing.

Tap a Whirl

Neunaber Stereo Wet

This is the best compact reverb pedal I’ve used, and one of the best reverb sounding pedals I’ve used period.  While it doesnt have the insane amount of options that a lot of reverb pedals have, I find I dont need the options with this pedal.  It sounds fantastic just the way it is.  You can adjust tone, length, and amount of verb on the signal, and that’s mostly what settings I need in a reverb anyway.  Their handy ExP pedal hooks up to it and allows me to have multiple presets.  Usually I have it set up for a “dry always on” setting, and a “heavy crazy verb” setting.  Two presets to switch back and forth.  Easy to use, sounds fantastic.  Dont hesitate on this pedal.

Strymon Timeline

I’ve used a lot of digital delay pedals, and really like a lot of them.  Seems to do everything that the Eventide TimeFactor did, and more.  I mainly just use one delay setting, and store different tempos of the same setting depending on the song.  I like this pedal because of the way the Banks and Presets are laid out.  Makes it great for playing a live set.  Also has a million cool sounds in it. Someday I’ll explore more of this pedal.

POG NANO

An octave pedal in a extremely small size.  Perfect for tiny tap dancing.  It sounds the same as the bigger pog, but it’s smaller.  This one is modded by Rick Matthews at www.matthewselectronics.com to have two availabe settings.  Two pogs in one, and half the size.  Come on now.

THE BIG BOARD

The Big Board

Layout / Design by Goodwood audio

Road case and tray by Creation Music Company

Similar to my previous pedal boards, Goodwood audio added in some in/out loops hidden around the board, giving me the option of expanding the pedal board on the fly at any time.

– Dry mono In and out loop a place to try out new drive pedals. It is routed after all my drive pedals, but before the volume pedal. There is also a 9v out send so I can just hook up a daisy chain and a pedal and run off of the board’s existing power supply. This is a really handy feature for trying out new dry effects.

– In and out loop stereo loop (mono send, stereo return) before the timeline. This is the same as the mono loop, but returns in stereo. This feature is great to rout in any rack effects or stereo pedals that aren’t on the board. I love this feature.

– Master Mute button at the end, for those horrible moments when your pedals don’t do what you want them to…

Gravitas (tremelo) by Chase Bliss Audio

This is my tremolo pedal.  Hand made, analog, midi controllable, and great tone. This pedal is extremely diverse, customizable, and incredible.  Chase Bliss is making some amazing handmade pedals.

PBC MASTERMIND by RJM

Ok, it would take me a year to fully explain this loop pedal in writing.  In a nut shell, it control’s my entire pedal board, dry and wet effects included. It stores presets, is editable by computer software, saves setlists, and is easy to use.  After everything is programmed, it recals presets on all midi pedals (Strymon and chase bliss pedals), as well as combonations of dry pedals.  I’ve loaded my entire database of songs I play into it along with all the presets I use for those songs.  It makes touring and live playing much much simpler.  Check it out, and keep an eye out for a video I’ll be filming shortly explaing it’s features.

Keeley Moded Rat

Also one of the oldest pedals I’ve used over the years.  It’s never left my board.  This is my third stage drive that I use for solos/parts during big sections where I need to get out in front of a loud band.  You dont need to dial the overdrive knob up very far before it starts getting too dirty.  Passed 11 o clock you start sounding like you’re in a medal band.. so I keep it at about 9 or 10.  It has a bright eq, so it really can cut through when you need it to.  I maybe use this guy about 10% of a set.  Mine is modded by Old Blood Noise Endeavors.  The mod fixes some eq issues and adds a LED.

The GiG RiG

This is my pedal power supply system.  It totally rules.  Works all over the world, powers all my pedals, runs off of only one IEC power chord, and has cut to length cables for each of my pedals so it all ends up looking real tidy and nice.  I also have different adapters/converter guys that power my weird voltage pedals too.. and those just connect to the regular 9v ends.  This power supply system changed my world.  I love it.

Little Green Wonder by Mad Professor

My old standby, and one of the longest running pedals over the course of my career in my rig.  Its a smooth, natural overdrive that can’t be replaced.  I use it for rhythm and cleaner leads.

JHS SuperBolt Drive Pedal

Version 2 of this Supro Amp cloned pedal.  Tight, unique, and solid.  I love the eq of this pedal.  Its smooth but edgy.  I use it alot these days for most lead lines.  Check it out here.

Hilton Volume Pedal "Pro Guitar"

The best volume pedal i’ve seen on the market or used. Its solid as a rock, and has great feel.

Del Mar by Bondi Effects

This pedal replaced the RC Booster on my old board.  It’s my only “always on” pedal and is the first pedal in my chain.  It’s a very versitle and excellent overdrive.  I use it as a clean boost and eq pedal.  It’s basically a way of changing my guitar eq on the fly, and if I need my clean tone slightly gained up I use the gain knob on this pedal.  Its a handy tool.

Spectre (flanger) by Chase Bliss Audio

With this pedal board, I really wanted to expand my sound capabilites.  Flanger guitar pedals aren’t something I ever thought I would use, but the Spectre is really something different.  Its very musical, weird, and helps me think outside the box.  It pushes me to explore new sounds.  Check out Chaseblissaudio.comand watch the demo videos of this pedal to see what I mean.  Its a good time.

Strymon Bigsky Reverb

This is the best reverb pedal.  There i said it.  I love it.  I love the sounds, the layout, and the response it has to my playing.

Reflector by Old Blood Noise Endeavors

This is everything I want in a chorus pedal.  It emulates three vintage classic chorus styles.  It just sounds great.  Good job Brady.
